The Early Bird Catches The Worm at Mercy Secondary School Inchicore

College Awareness Week started early this year at Mercy Secondary School in Inchicore, Dublin 8. CAW talks and exercises were planned in conjunction with their annual opening night on September 20th.

The evening was open to those in the community as students, staff and alumni gathered to celebrate and share what Mercy Secondary School has to offer for potential students. The evening included school tours and students sharing their journey through education.

Deputy Principal and Guidance Councillor Ms. Michelle O’Kelly organised for students to have a taste of college life as prospective college students worked together with our Dream Job activity toolkit as they mind-mapped the dream careers that a college education could grant them.

When speaking to a member of the CAW communication team Ms. Kelly said she would really recommend the toolkits, especially the Dream Job activity. It went down a treat for all the students. Of course being this early for CAW 2018 can be hungry work. Luckily Ms. O’Kelly organised for participating school students to have pizza that evening. Some post-secondary plans and a great dinner, it just goes to show how being college aware pays off!
